VDM Construction lists the main advantages of Hyparspace as efficiency of design, more cost effective maintenance in a corrosive environment, and cost competitiveness compared with conventional buildings of this type.
In simple terms, Hyparspace is an on-site roll-forming technology that creates roof and wall panels that are structural, and can be curved or flat.   The panels are formed on-site, seamed together and lifted into place in sections.

The flat panels can be applied to roll continuous lengths with spans up to 18m on flat between purlins. The semi-arch roof panels can be used with posts or concrete tilt-up and up to 30m clear span.

Other advantages include a reduction in the quantity of supporting steel, elimination of the need for purlins, and quicker and safer construction. The result is a high quality, low maintenance building. Two of the reasons for this are the great reduction in contact area between roof sheets and support, and the reduced number of corrosion-prone fixing holes in the sheets – both up to 90% reduction and more in some cases.
