Rocktec are specialists in marine and civil construction, with a focus on rock production and placement. The company has completed projects valued in excess of $53 million since the company’s inception in 2004. While still a relatively new company, Rocktec’s Managing Director, Darryl Ferrara, has more than 27 years experience in the industry.
With a policy of keeping specialist skills in-house, Rocktec employs its own drillers, licensed shot-firers, civil and marine engineers, and specialist skilled plant operators. All plant and equipment used for rock production and placement is owned and operated by the company, as is the ancillary equipment such as explosive magazines, service and water trucks. This in-house and self-contained capacity ensures that Rocktec can operate independently and with high mobility to best suit its clients’ needs.
Rocktec are proud State winners in construction excellence of the 2006 Case Earth Awards for their work in extending the western breakwater at Hillarys Boat Harbour. The project was completed within strict timeframes and under budget, while meeting and exceeding strict environmental guidelines, and has been the first of many successful accomplishments for the company.
Rocktec also supplied and constructed all of the revetment rock for the Exmouth Marina Village project. Its current and largest project to date is the Port Coogee Seawalls and Marina construction. Over 660,000 tonnes of core and armour rock was quarried, supplied and placed for the seawalls. A further 220,000 tonnes of rock was used in the revetment work. Rocktec has recently commenced the installation of approximately 2 kilometres of pre-cast concrete edging at the same marina at Port Coogee.
Another arm of Rocktec is as a builder of commercial-level retaining walls, with a focus on new estates sub-divisional work. With the continuing high demand for residential land stretching across Perth and its surrounds, the company employs a number of contractors, with a combined workforce of nearly 40 people, to meet capacity requirements on its wall building contracts.
Rocktec enjoys a blue chip client base in its niche markets, and strives at all times to provide innovative, cost efficient solutions to their needs. Notwithstanding its success to date, the company remains firmly committed to a process of continuous improvement in service delivery by increasing the skills base of its workforce, the use of state of the art equipment and systems, and of innovative contracting techniques.
